Tyronn Lue, the championship-winning NBA coach, is looking forward to extending his tenure with the LA Clippers, dismissing any speculations about joining the LA Lakers. After the Clippers’ exit from the NBA playoffs post their 114-101 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on May 3, Lue confirmed he hopes to remain with the Clippers.
The Athletic reported that the Clippers are planning to extend Lue’s contract this offseason. Lue, who celebrated his 47th birthday recently, voiced his intent to stay and praised his experience with the Clippers management.
He, however, fell short of commenting on the rumors linking him to the Lakers’ hunt for a new coach following Darvin Ham’s dismissal. Having two more years left on his contract with the Clippers, and despite a playoff campaign marred by key injuries, Lue was hopeful for the future.
Lue, who had a successful stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, highlighted the achievements of his first season with the Clippers, including reaching the Western Conference finals and a regular season record of 184-134. He is optimistic about the next season and plans to improve even further.
