The NBA Conference Finals Preparation
The teams for the NBA Conference Finals have now been officially confirmed following the second Game 7 on Sunday. The Minnesota Timberwolves came out on top against the Denver Nuggets with a final score of 98-90.
Intense Games Leading to the Conference Finals
In comparison to the previous Game 7, where the Indiana Pacers blew away the New York Knicks with their outstanding shooting, this game was much more competitive. The Timberwolves only began to break away towards the end of the fourth quarter.
The Nuggets, reigning NBA champions and playing on their home ground, looked to be in a favorable position. By early in the third quarter, they had built up a substantial 20-point, 58-38, lead.

Timberwolves’ Rise to Victory
Despite the initial favoring conditions for the Nuggets, the Timberwolves switched the narrative with Anthony Edwards’ powerful performances on the court, which brought a substantial change to their defense strategy.
The Timberwolves took over the third quarter by 28-14 and maintained that momentum straight into the fourth. A three-pointer from Edwards propelled Minnesota to a 30-point swing, setting the score at 92-82 with just over three minutes left on the clock.
Despite the efforts of the Denver crowd at the Ball Arena to cheer and spur their team on, it was the relentless hustle of the Timberwolves that triumphed in the end.
Leading Performances
Nikola Jokic, who had barely taken a break throughout the game, made his last bucket with just over a minute left on the clock, reducing the Timberwolves’ lead to five points. Karl-Anthony Towns, one of Minnesota’s top scorers, sealed their victory with a remarkable dunk after Mike Conley missed a layup.
As a result of their outstanding performances, both Towns and Jaden McDaniels ended the game with a personal tally of 23 points, securing the Timberwolves’ spot in the Conference Finals.
Karl-Anthony Towns, impressive with his pair of steals, assists, and one block, also added 12 rebounds to his stats. McDaniels was no less in making a difference, with his three-pointers and six rebounds contributing to the Timberwolves’ win.
The Timberwolves’ top scorer, Edwards, was off his game, falling short with 16 points from 24 shooting attempts. However, his energy never flagged, and he contributed with eight rebounds, seven assists, and a pair of steals.
Naz Reid, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year, further contributed to the Timberwolves’ victory with a couple of pivotal baskets in the fourth quarter, adding 11 points and four rebounds to their cumulative tally.
Nuggets’ Struggles
The Nuggets had a tough time getting their three-pointers to connect, finishing with a team average of only 24.2%. Despite enduring a long and demanding Game 7, Jokic came back with an exceptional performance of 34 points and 19 rebounds.
Jamal Murray led the game with a high of 35 points, but his struggles were prominent with his three-pointers. This didn’t stop him from adding another 13 points from 27 attempts in the field to his tally, coupled with three rebounds and three assists.
Next in the NBA Conference Finals
After their remarkable comeback victory, the Timberwolves are now set to host the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, a series which will decide which team will represent the West in the NBA Finals.
