Serena Williams Talks About the Athletic Potential in Her Daughter Olympia

Serena Williams shared her thoughts on her 6-year-old daughter Olympia’s athletic abilities, though she’s unsure if she can provide the encouragement and push Olympia might need to excel.

Serena Williams on her Daughters’ Athleticism

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Williams discussed the athletic potential she sees in her daughters, similar to how her father, Richard Williams, noticed and nurtured her and Venus’s talents when they were young.

Williams spoke about her struggle to balance pushing her children and letting them relax, ”When I look at my dad, I often wonder how he managed. However, I am grateful for his persistence because without it, Serena Williams wouldn’t exist,” she noted.

Insights on Olympia’s Potential

Williams mentioned that she hasn’t yet observed such athletic traits in her 9-month-old Adira, but her older daughter, Olympia, shows more promise. She even hinted that her father might have to step in to coach Olympia.

SERENA WILLIAMS AVOIDS QUESTIONS ABOUT TRUMP CONNECTION IN NY TIMES INTERVIEW: ‘NOT GOING THERE’

Describing Olympia’s brilliance and athleticism, Williams stated, “It’s almost superhuman. Venus always says, ‘This kid has more talent than both of us combined,’ and she’s not wrong.”. She contemplates ways to channel all that energy, and fears she might be “too nice” to push Olympia the way their father pushed her.

Olympia’s Curiosity About her Mother’s Legacy

Williams also shared about Olympia’s growing curiosity into her iconic tennis career and why she is so widely recognized. Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, are parents to two children.
