Lovie Smith, the former coach of the Houston Texans, pointed out the lack of racial diversity in NFL coaching at the time of his hiring in February 2022. After being dismissed at the end of his sole season with a 3-13-1 record, he becomes the second Black coach in two years to be fired by the Texans, following in the steps of David Culley.
