Korbin Albert Faces the Crowd’s Judgment
Popular US women’s soccer player, Korbin Albert, was greeted with boos from an audience in Colorado during a match against South Korea. The incident occurred on Saturday when she stepped up in the 71st minute to replace Lindsey Horan.
While Albert didn’t manage to score in the 4-0 win against South Korea, the boos from the audience weren’t entirely unfamiliar. She had faced similar reactions since her appearance against Japan in the SheBelieves Cup held in April.

Backlash from Albert’s Social Media Posts
Albert’s reception on the field can be traced back to her controversial posts regarding the LGBTQ+ community on social media. One of these included a reposted TikTok video showcasing a sermon which articulated anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments.
Another incident involved Albert allegedly liking a post that made fun of Meghan Rapinoe’s injury, which sparked considerable backlash. Rapinoe had notably critiqued these posts at the time.
Albert’s Apology is Met with Continued Boos
Despite offering an apology for her controversial posts, Albert was still confronted with boos from the audience. It’s worth noting, she entered the match wearing the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team’s pride jersey, which the team donned to commemorate the initiation of Pride Month in June. The match also marked the first victory for Emma Hayes as the U.S. team’s coach.
Match Highlights
In the successful game held on Saturday, U.S. team players Mallory Swanson and Tierna Davidson managed to score two goals each.
