Dani Alves, the Brazilian footballer, is currently being investigated for an alleged sexual assault that took place in Barcelona last month, as confirmed by the Catalonia Higher Court of Justice. The investigation has been sanctioned by Barcelona’s investigating magistrate’s court number 15, following a complaint lodged by a woman about an incident that purportedly occurred at a Barcelona nightclub in December.
Current information is limited as the matter is still in the investigative phase. The court’s spokesperson confirmed to CNN that the allegations concern Dani Alves.
CNN attempted to reach Mexico’s UNAM, Alves’ current club, for comments on the situation from the team and player but received no immediate response. According to Reuters, Alves denies any wrongdoing.
Alves, who is one of the most decorated football players of his era, has won domestic titles in Spain, Italy, and France and three Champions League titles with Barcelona. Additionally, he won the Copa America with Brazil in 2007 and 2019. The 39-year-old became the oldest player from Brazil to participate in the World Cup during their match against Cameroon in Qatar.
