Harrison Butker Remains Unapologetic about His Faith
Harrison Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs’ spearhead kicker, made his first public appearance on Friday since his Benedectine College graduation speech, showing no signs of remorse. He graced the “Courage Under Fire Gala” in Nashville, presented by Regina Caeli Academy.
The academy fosters excellent academic achievement and moral living among its students through a classical educational approach rooted in Catholic traditions. Butker, a part of the Academy’s board of directors since the previous year, echoed similar sentiments.

The eminent kicker took the stage to applause and addressed his firm commitment to his faith, ignoring the backlash he has faced. Identifying the theme for the gala as “Courage Under Fire,” he spoke of the growing contempt for timeless Catholic values.
Acknowledging his status as a “polarizing” figure due to his outspoken beliefs, Butker emphasized his unwavering commitment to his faith, no matter the public sentiment. He cited his desire to glorify God and please Jesus Christ rather than trying to win people’s approval.
The Saints’ Courage Inspires Butker
According to Butker, the support he has received amid the backlash humbles him. He draws strength from the courage shown by many saints during their hardships, particularly the trials endured by the martyrs. Their suffering, he suggests, puts his tribulations into perspective.
Rising Above The Noise
Butker actively encourages others to be unashamed of and vocal about their faith, even when it contradicts prevalent belief systems. Furthermore, he stressed that courage begins with small actions and the willingness to face disapproval and misrepresentation.
In the graduation speech, he urged female graduates to embrace the role of homemakers and criticized the LGBTQ+ community along with President Biden’s stance on abortion. He suggested that various social issues arose from disordered thinking and values prevalent in the culture.

Reactions to Buther’s Speech
Despite mixed reactions from the media to his speech, Butker’s NFL Shop jersey sales have skyrocketed. He played his third Super Bowl this year, leading Kansas City to consecutive championships in February.
