During his Netflix roast over the weekend, NFL legend Tom Brady admitted he still misses football. J.J. Watt also indicated he’d consider returning to the Houston Texans if the team wanted him back. While they may miss the gridiron, the two former NFL heavyweights are busy building their brands and investing in various business ventures.
Brady is keen to purchase a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, adding to his collection of investments that includes No Bull, Las Vegas Aces, and Birmingham City. Meanwhile, Watt and his wife, Kealia, own a minority share in Burnley Football Club and have invested in Hyperice, Athletic Brewing, and more.
Despite these new business ventures, it appears football continues to exert a significant influence on these retired stars. According to former NFL star Shawne Merriman, the camaraderie players experience in their sports career is difficult to let go of, and many players struggle to take the next step after retirement.
Merriman, who has experience in both broadcasting and starting his own martial arts promotion, recently founded his own TV channel, Lights Out Sports. Merriman describes the channel as a free service, available on all major TV platforms, with the aim of reaching a global audience.
