The triumph was majorly attributed to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who together scored 72 points.
Jaylen Brown, with a season-high of 41 points and 12 rebounds, and Jayson Tatum, with 31 points and 10 rebounds, played a significant role in securing the Celtics’ fourth consecutive win. Brown, in particular, utilized his strength gained during the offseason to dominate the mid-range and boundary areas, allowing him to take on larger opponents.
In a post-game interview, Brown stated his intention to continue driving to the rim throughout the season. Al Horford, Celtics forward, echoed Brown’s thoughts stating that when Brown drives, it makes a palpable impact on the opposition.
The game marked Brown’s sixth career 40-point game, placing him sixth in Celtics history, overtaking Sam Jones and Isaiah Thomas. Tatum and Brown have been instrumental in guiding the Boston Celtics to their success streak. The team made it to the NBA finals last season, where they eventually conceded defeat to the Golden State Warriors, but are again among the top teams this year.
Interestingly, Brown and Tatum are the first Celtics players to score at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in the same game, a record held since 2001 by Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker. The duo, procured a year apart with the third pick in the 2016 and 2017 drafts respectively, have developed a valuable understanding of breaking through defenses together. Teammate Al Horford applauded the duo, attributing much of the team’s success to their performance.
