Three individuals were fatally tortured in a home in Jonesboro, Georgia just over ten years ago, according to authorities. The victims’ bodies were discovered in a deserted vehicle on the outskirts of Union City, some 14 miles away. Identified as Cheryl Thompson (32), Quinones King (33), and Rodney Cottrell (43), they were all reportedly strangled around January 12, 2013.
Over a decade after the incident, four individuals, namely Kenneth Thompson (49), Keante Harris (45), Kevin Harris (51), and Derrell Adams (31) have been apprehended and charged with the murders. The accused have been recognized by Clayton County, Georgia authorities.
Keante Harris is known to be an assistant principal at McAdory Middle School in McCalla, Alabama. Upon learning of Harris’ arrest on May 8, the school district is now in the process of gathering related information. Currently, it seems the charges against Harris have no connection to his school position. While on administrative leave, Harris’ future employment status hinges on further revelations, following district policy. At this point, he is being detained without bond on allegations of escaping justice.
Notably, Harris consented to be moved to Georgia during the week’s first court appearance. He and the other defendants are each charged with three counts of malice murder, as per the indictment.
Having secured grand jury indictments, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office has praised Chief Kevin Roberts and his team of investigators for resolving the case. There is currently no further information available about the evidence leading to the charges nor the motive behind the killings, and the district attorney’s office has refrained from commenting on ongoing cases.
