DAHLONEGA – Men’s Golf and Baseball Teams Recognized in Peach Belt Conference Sportsmanship Awards
The athletics department of the University of North Georgia (UNG) announced on Tuesday that two teams won the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Team Sportsmanship Awards for the spring season. Both the men’s golf and baseball teams garnered commendations for their displays of sportsmanship. UNG stands as the only institution in the PBC to receive multiple team sportsmanship awards for the 2024 season.
The UNG Baseball Team Celebrates a Four-year Winning Streak
The UNG baseball team led by Tom Cantrell, the head coach of 25 years, celebrated their fourth consecutive season of receiving the award. Despite the year’s challenges, the Nighthawks flew high with a record of 32-19 and a commendable conference play of 17-10. The season, however, concluded in the PBC tournament.
Recognition for Displaying Exceptional Sportsmanship
The PBC awards acknowledge the commendable behavior and spirit shown by the teams throughout the season, embodying the essence of fair play. These recent accolades mark UNG’s continuing commitment to upholding sportsmanship in all their sporting endeavors.
