Musician Cami Petyn found a unique resume hack after facing rejection from 65 job applications with no interview calls. She used a hack referred to as “dystopian” to trick the AI Tech systems used to sort through job applications, which landed her three part-time jobs.
Petyn shared her experience with her over 500,000 TikTok followers, explaining that she adopted the solution out of fear of not being able to support her artistic career. A friend of Petyn’s acquainted her with the hack, which effectively outsmarts AI in the job application process.
The musician explained that many companies integrate AI systems to help Human Resources sort through job applications. These AI systems often auto-reject applications or resumes that don’t meet certain job specifications.
The hack Petyn applied involves copying and pasting the entire job description from the online listing into the resume. Applicants then change the font size and colour to make the pasted content unreadable to human eyes but detectable by AI systems.
Though the technique has helped Petyn gain more job interviews, she admits it means applicants must customize their resume for every job application. Petyn also advised her followers to email their resumes directly to companies and introduce themselves. Several other job seekers on TikTok confirmed the effectiveness of this method.
