A recent study revealed that approximately 38% of American employees feel uninspired at work, which is also affecting their productivity levels. The survey, conducted by Talker Research for coworking company Life Time Work, also found that 37% of participants consider their work routine as stale.
The findings showed that the respondents’ work setting significantly impacts their productivity, prompting many to seek ways to boost productivity such as taking breaks and incorporating physical activities into their work routine. The study also discovered that a strong sense of community in the workspace has a positive effect on productivity, as stated by 62% of participants.
For those experiencing a slump in the middle of a workday, physical activities, such as walking or doing exercises, can help lift their mood. However, only 17% of employed Americans admit they exercise once a week or less.
About 39% of the participants also struggle to find time for themselves during work hours. To boost employee productivity, the respondents suggested that workplaces have particular areas such as quiet rooms or gym spaces. In addition, 70% indicated that their work environments affect the quality of their work-related ideas. They mentioned that they have had good work-related ideas in non-work areas, such as bed, a coffee shop, or at the gym.
If given the chance, the respondents would prefer to have more snack breaks or mental breaks, and a small percentage – particularly the hybrid employees – seeks more exercise breaks.
Talker Research conducted the survey with 2,000 employed Americans for Life Time between March 1 and 6, 2024.
