Fast food chicken nuggets, often touted as a beloved childhood food, continues to be a guilty pleasure for many American adults. Thanks to its high protein content and classic taste, chicken nuggets remain a favorite on-the-go snack. Today, almost every fast food outlet across the country serves their own version of this delectable treat.
There’s a fun nugget fact: 5% of Americans consume chicken nuggets daily, and 30% opt for them at least once a month for dinner, as per data from Statista.
The team at ‘Eat This, Not That’ recently conducted a taste test with seven of the biggest fast food brands and ranked their nuggets by flavor. Among the tested restaurants, the top seven rankings are:
7. Popeyes: Despite an attractive appearance and solid chicken inside, these nuggets were found to be excessively breaded and greasy, masking the taste of the chicken.
6. Burger King: The nuggets disappointed in terms of texture. They seemed overcooked, lacked crunch, and didn’t appear to be freshly made.
5. Shake Shack: These nuggets cost $6.99 for six pieces, but they fell short in terms of expectations. They were excessively oily, dry, and lacked adequate sauce.
4. KFC: These nuggets were praised for their taste, but they were also critiqued for their size, lack of crispness, and inconsistent breading.
3. McDonald’s: Known for being a childhood favorite, these nuggets, made from 100% white meat, were deemed perfectly crispy and balanced in taste.
2. Wendy’s: These breaded 100% white meat nuggets had a substantial outer layer of crispiness and carried a hint of pepper and spice, making them a tastier version of the McDonald’s nuggets.
1. Chick-fil-A: Crowned as the winner, these nuggets were appreciated for their perfect cooking, tender chicken inside, crisp exterior, and balance in taste and texture.
