A Florida antiques enthusiast received a bigger experience than anticipated when she attended a local estate sale, only to discover it featured items from the late actress Kirstie Alley with hundreds of her fans in attendance. The estate sale, held in Clearwater, drew a crowd including Sophie Schiff, a part-time antique and vintage thrifter, who was alerted to the event by her sister.
Schiff described an organized display of Alley’s items including her clothing, shoes, housewares and even her pet animal cages to People. She recalled high demand with competitive grabbing of artwork and figurine collections due to attractive prices, “One couple came and got every single one of those [dog figurines] within the first few minutes.”
However, the crowding and extreme security restrictions impeded Schiff’s ability to obtain many items she had hoped to secure. Despite reasonable pricing on most items such as the $1,500 bar cart allegedly by Chanel, an $18,000 price tag was attached to the dress Alley wore in her Jenny Craig commercial.
Loyal fans of the late actress attended the sale with the sole purpose of “leaving with something,” according to Schiff. Offerings ranged from traditional decor to personal items such as pots or knives, and even labeled boxes that once stored the late actress’s possessions.
After sharing scenes of the estate sale on TikTok, Schiff received over 600,000 views and comments debating Alley’s personal life and choices. She eventually left the estate sale with several glass pieces, single plates and miscellaneous kitchenwares.
