Looking to Clean India? Convert Waste into Free Wi-Fi

Two entrepreneurs in Mumbai have come up with an innovative solution to address the chronic issue of littering in public spaces in India. The co-founders of start-up company, ThinkScream, Raj Desai and Pratik Agarwal have developed a smart trash can, which offers users 15 minutes of free Wi-Fi every time they throw something away. The plastic bin, which has an LED screen and stands four-and-a-half feet high, can be obtained at a cost of $1,470. When an item of trash is thrown into the bin, the screen flashes a unique code which grants the user access to free Wi-Fi within a 50 meter radius. The co-founders believe this inventive approach would encourage people to stop littering in public places.
