New York state senator, Kevin Parker, is now challenging a law he previously supported, claiming it is unconstitutional. This comes as he faces allegations of rape from Olga Jean-Baptiste in 2004. The lawsuit against Parker was made possible by the Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims to file civil suits within a specific timeframe even if the statute of limitations has expired. Parker, who initially voted for the law in 2021, asserts that he did so to ensure justice for all New Yorkers. Despite the allegations against him, Parker maintains his innocence and continues his work and advocacy. Parker has faced controversy in the past for his temper, including misdemeanor assault charges in 2005 and felony charges in 2009. He was found guilty of misdemeanor charges and ordered to attend anger-management classes. Parker is being represented by attorney Lonnie Hart Jr. in the current case, but neither his attorney nor his office has responded to requests for comment.
